There are high-speed trains and bullet trains(high speed trains) from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hangzhou East station.
1.         The high-speed train costs RMB 73, and the high-speed rail costs about 73 yuan. The time is about one hour.

2.         From Hangzhou East Railway Station to the West Lake Scenic Area, you can take Metro Line 1 to the Longxiang Bridge, and walk two to three hundred meters to the musical fountain. Or take the No. 31 bus to Qingbo’men, and get off at Liulang Wenying. For easier, you could take taxi is convinent if you the metro guidance is not showing clear enough.
Second, there is only a high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Hangzhou City Station, and the ticket price is *** yuan; the ordinary train ticket from Shanghai South  station to Hangzhou Station (city station) is *** yuan, and the time takes more than 2 hours. It is closer from Chengzhan Station to West Lake than it is East Station to West Lake. You can take Metro Line 1 or Bus No. 7 (you can go to West Lake at several stations after Yongjinmen).

The other is to take a bus. There are departures at the long-distance passenger transport center station and the South Bus Station. The fare is 68 yuan and the time is 2 hours.
All things considered, the most cost-effective ride is by train. I wish you a smooth trip and have fun!
